![]() 26 Besides all this, between you and us a great chasm has been fixed, so that those who might want to pass from here to you cannot do so, and no one can cross from there to us.” 27 He said, “Then, father, I beg you to send him to my father’s house- 28 for I have five brothers-that he may warn them, so that they will not also come into this place of torment.” 29 Abraham replied, “They have Moses and the prophets they should listen to them.” 30 He said, “No, father Abraham but if someone goes to them from the dead, they will repent.” 31 He said to him, “If they do not listen to Moses and the prophets, neither will they be convinced even if someone rises from the dead.”’ġ6 Then someone came to him and said, ‘Teacher, what good deed must I do to have eternal life?’ 17 And he said to him, ‘Why do you ask me about what is good? There is only one who is good. 24 He called out, “Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue for I am in agony in these flames.” 25 But Abraham said, “Child, remember that during your lifetime you received your good things, and Lazarus in like manner evil things but now he is comforted here, and you are in agony. 23 In Hades, where he was being tormented, he looked up and saw Abraham far away with Lazarus by his side. 22 The poor man died and was carried away by the angels to be with Abraham. ![]() ![]() 20 And at his gate lay a poor man named Lazarus, covered with sores, 21 who longed to satisfy his hunger with what fell from the rich man’s table even the dogs would come and lick his sores. The bottom line here is that the fact that you feel the need to tell outrageous lies to try to discredit Osteen says far more about your questionable character than it does to cast any shade in Osteen's.ġ9 ‘There was a rich man who was dressed in purple and fine linen and who feasted sumptuously every day. In that period this was a lucrative profession, much as Osteen's being an author is for him. ![]() He appears to be following the example of the apostle Paul because, although he also endorsed clergy accepting payment, he chose to support himself by plying his trade as a tentmaker. One place you might have a point is the places where Jesus says 'the workman is worthy of his hire" this endorses the practice of church leaders accepting payment for their services, whereas Osteen chooses to eschew such compensation. You try to use the Bible against Osteen to claim he's not following Jesus'teachings. And since his income is from his book royalties he still has to pay the entire amount of the payroll taxes, since that is also self employment income. In fact, since the church is exempt from taxes he would have to also pay the church's share of the payroll taxes, just as if he were self employed. It is from those proceeds that he was able to purchase a $10 million mansion that only measures 5,600 square feet, not 70,000.Īs for taxes, even if he were receiving a salary from Lakewood Church he would still be required to pay income tax on those wages. The lion's share of Osteen's wealth is derived from royalties on sales of his many books, which have sold (no exaggeration) hundreds of millions of copies over the last 19 years. There don't appear to be any pictures of Osteen driving a Ferrari, getting out of one, or even standing next to one. There's no evidence anywhere that he owns a 20 car garage you can find photos of his home all over the internet and nowhere does there appear to be such a structure. In 2017 Lakewood Church released their independently audited financial statement it showed administrative costs, of which any alleged pastor's salary would be a part, of just over $11 million. $54 million is his entire estimated net worth, not his salary. Neither Osteen nor his wife have taken one dime in compensation from Lakewood Church since 2004, when his first book reached number one on the New York Times bestseller list. Every statement in this post is an outright lie.
